Talent Exchange Opportunity – Tourbook Ltd

Business Name : Tourbook Ltd - www.tourbook.live

Tourbook is a Software as a Service product designed to support all those involved in touring live performance. The product was designed and developed between April 2015 and June 2016, with the software build currently 80% approx complete.

Development work was paused in June 2016 as focus shifted to setting up the new Tourbook company and for additional funding and resources to be obtained to support development through to launch. Going forward, Tourbook will be registered as a Community Interest Company for the benefit of the performing arts sector, with access to Tourbook being offered via Freemium business model.

This work has now taken place andwork on the build will recommence in Autumn 2016, with an anticipated 2-3 months further work prior to launch.

Tourbook has an existing user base (who currently use an older version of the software) waiting to migrate to the new version, and a wide market within the performing arts in Scotland ready to use it once launched. The product will scale to UK and international markets once out of beta.

Tourbook is built with MySQL, PHP (Phalcon MVC Framework), HTML, CSS, JS.

Tourbook have three projects to offer, to students.

HOSTING, SECURITY AND BACKUP: To research, plan and implement an appropriate server set up along with security and backup measures that is suitable to run a scalable cloud solution. Considerations in this project would be evaluation of costs, understanding server systems, security certificates, data storage, database management and others.

November deadline.

LOCATIONS: To research, plan and integrate a solution for successfully managing location data, geolocations and employing external APIs (both address finder and mapping software). Tourbook works with a large range of data types each with their own slightly different location-based requirements. We are looking to deploy a solution which can intelligently identify the data required and map the appropriate locations (and possibly routes) efficiently and effectively for users. This may include identifying external APIs, evaluating costs and solving complex location-based problems.

November deadline.

DISCREET CODING CHALLENGES: In addition to the above projects, we have capacity for students to work on a series of discrete coding challenges to provide both front and back end solutions to take Tourbook for the next level. These include projects such as developing a multi-level filter navigation, building messaging solutions, dashboard development, responsive design and code refactoring. Some of these elements are already underway but would benefit from additional focus and input.

Flexible deadline
