IJCAI-09: Grand Challenges for Reasoning from Experiences Format of the Workshop The workshop will consist of presented papers, discussions and a panel dedicated to Grand Challenge issues for reasoning from experiences across a range of related research topics. The morning sessions will contain presentations and debates associated with invited speakers and accepted Challenge papers. Each Challenge will be explored through paired presentations. The originator will first present their Challenge issue, its motivating tasks, and their research plans for addressing it. This will be followed by a nominated respondent's presentation of a response to the Challenge and a discussion period led by the respondent. The afternoon sessions will contain shorter, more standard, presentations for accepted papers. Each paper presentation will be followed by a short discussion period. The workshop will conclude with a "Grand Challenges" Panel followed by an open discussion of the Challenges and outcomes of the workshop. The accepted workshop papers will be published as IJCAI working notes of the workshop. The outcomes of the workshop will be summarised in a short workshop summary document and a short briefing will be presented at the 8th International Conference on Case-Based Reasoning in Seattle the following week. We expect to accept 7-8 papers for 15-20 minute presentations to complement 2-3 invited speakers. The workshop is open to all members of the AI community but attendance will be limited to about 75. Priority will be given to workshop participants whose interests best align with "Grand Challenges" across a variety of AI subfields related to reasoning from experiences. |
