Knowledge Based Systems Group

The knowledge based systems group conducts research on knowledge modelling, discovery and acquisition. They have a proven record in developing innovative techniques for applying knowledge-based systems to real-world problems, especially for product design and decision-support. The group has three main strengths: constraint programming, case-based reasoning, and knowledge discovery from text.

Among the projects in this group, advanced knowledge engineering tools have been developed for building and maintaining knowledge-based systems and these have been applied to decision support tools in several domains, such as pharmacy and engineering.
