Hello and welcome to my home page. I joined The Robert Gordon University in November 2008. Prior to this appointment, I worked as a Senior Lecturer at the Knowledge Media Institute of The Open University, UK, during 9/2005-10/2008, and as a Research Scientist and Senior Research Scientist at the Distributed Systems Technology Centre (DSTC), Australia, during 9/2000-7/2005. My research interests include various theoretical and practical aspects of information retrieval (such as logical models, language models, high-dimensional indexing and dimensionality reduction, pseudo- and implicit relevance feedback, query expansion), text mining, applied logic, and their applications in knowledge discovery and management. In addition to text information retrieval, I am also interested in multimedia information retrieval. Stick around and get to know me a little. Enjoy your stay!

hot2.gif The Fifth International Symposium on Quantum Interaction (QI'2011)Normal registration deadline: 10 June 2011.

Quantum Interaction (QI) based on Quantum Theory (QT) is being applied to domains such as artificial intelligence, human language, cognition, information retrieval, biology, political science, economics, organisations and social interaction. After highly successful previous meetings (QI'2007 at Stanford, QI'2008 at Oxford, QI'2009 at Saarbruecken, QI'2010 at Washington DC), the Fifth International Quantum Interaction Symposium will take place in Aberdeen, UK from 27 to 29 June 2011. This symposium will bring together researchers interested in how QT interfaces with or solves problems in non-quantum domains more efficiently. It will also look at how QT can address previously unsolved problems in other fields.
