|
Horacio Gonzalez-Velez is a lecturer with the School of Computing and an active researcher with the IDEAS Research Institute of the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. He has been recognised with the NESTA Crucible Fellowship for his inter-disciplinary research on computational science in 2009 and with an European Commission award for his efforts on scientific dissemination in 2006. He is also an honorary research fellow in the School of Informatics of the University of Edinburgh and a fellow of the RSA. Having spent over ten years in the ICT industry working for innovation-driven companies such as Silicon Graphics and Sun Microsystems in the US and Mexico, Horacio is used to adopting different commercial roles in systems engineering and product marketing. Enthusiastic about technology and its applications, he supports joint interdisciplinary research that motivates knowledge transfer, creative thinking, and innovative products. Educated in the UK, Japan, and Mexico, he has published a few technical and scientific articles and presented at relevant fora across the world in the capacities of engineer, product marketeer and computational scientist. Above all, he is a family man who enjoys discussing history and social facts with his wife, answering the tricky questions posed by his smart 10-year-old daughter, and contemplating his 20-month son whilst preparing eclectic edible concoctions. |
