Dr John McCall

Research Interests

I lead the Computational Intelligence Group at RGU, which focusses on the application of a range of techniques (EAs,ILP,ANN,PSO, etc..) to learning and optimisation problems. Application areas include medical decision support, biological sequences, scheduling, image analysis and oil-well modelling. Originally a pure mathematician, I have for many years now been interested in naturally-inspired computing, in particular genetic and evolutionary algorithms and particle swarms. Recently, I have also become interested in Estimation of Distribution Algorithms (EDAs).
