Knowledge Acquisition For Textual CBR

The aim of this project is to develop state-of-the-art tools to build a Textual Case-Based Reasoning (TCBR) shell and to apply it to real-world problem solving scenarios. Funding will be used to achieve the following key objectives:

  1. Develop a TCBR shell making TCBR techniques generally available to academics and industrialists.
  2. Apply TCBR techniques to solve real-world problems encountered in industry.
  3. Develop and integrate new TCBR knowledge acquisition algorithms within the shell.
  4. Contribute to a theoretical framework for reasoning from text for Case-Based Reasoning (CBR).

We will be extending jCOLIBRI by adding textual components to enable representation, indexing, reuse and eventually textual revision. The Figure below illustrates other open source SW comoponents that are currently integrated (lime green), developed SW that is now being integrated (dark green) and those yet to be developed in Java (blue).
